Personal Profile

Juan understands the value of home ownership. He has developed this understanding from his personal experiences. He sees owning a home as the most important material possession that one can have. Juan sees home ownership as an essential part of creating security and a sense of belonging for him and his family. Juan has owned a couple of homes prior to owning the family home that he shares with his wife, Robin and their daughters. He believes that home ownership is directly tied to what many people may say is truly part of the dream that is America. Juan has dreamed of coming to the United States from a very young age. He had a very simple life with strong family values with an emphasis on education. His first contact with the United States was when he was just in Elementary School in Huancayo, Peru. The United States Marine Corps joined the Peruvian Army in a parade. Juan was awed by the United States Marine Corps and wanted to know more about United States. In 1987, Juan immigrated to the United States. He arrived in this country with nothing but fifty dollars in his pocket and a limited grasp of the English language. What he did have was the hope of achieving the "American Dream." Educated in South America and the United States with a degree in Psychology, Juan has had a lifetime of working hard and building his resume'. Some of his first jobs were quite modest, but Juan never took his focus off of obtaining his "American Dream". Juan has worked everything from construction to retail sales. Juan enjoyed working with children with autism. The career choices that Juan has found to be the most fulfilling were when he was working as a Counselor which allowed him to assist others with daily life and decisions. Juan loves spending time with his family. Summers are when you find Juan working in his garden or vacationing with his Wife and daughters in Florida. No matter what time of year it is "the girls" want to know when the family is going on vacation. The holiday season also allows for family togetherness. Extended family is also important. Even though Juan's family lives all over the world, he and his siblings every year or so, whether here in the United States or elsewhere, get together. He has continued to instill the same values he had as a child, which is the importance of family. Additionally, Juan has strongly encouraged his daughters to pursue higher education. The family has just celebrated the graduation of Lauren from Trinity University in DC which has allowed her to pursue her Forensic Anthropology Graduate degree from Temple University. In the Fall, she will be attending medical school at Jefferson Medical College. He looks forward to Ashton's May graduation from Penn State University with a Degree in Animal Sciences. The twins Carolyn and Katelyn have both attended Penn State satellite campuses. Carolyn has enjoyed her opportunities to play tennis for Penn State Berks, while Katelyn has poured herself into her Psychology major at Penn State Lehigh Valley. Samantha, a junior in high school, has strong interest in photography and has her sights set for Temple University. Juan's wife, Robin is a Special Education Teacher who has recently graduated with a Law Degree from Widener University School of Law.
